Change in breast size is one of the first signs of pregnancy.  Your bra size can grow as much as three cup sizes.  Plus size maternity bras can provide the support and comfort you need day and night.  Here are some tips for buying your plus size maternity bras.

  • To ease the stress on your shoulders look for forgiving materials such as microfiber and lycra in the strap of your plus size maternity bras.  Look for wide straps with cushioning, some of these are available with new gel pads.

  • Some women experience breast sensitivity especially early on in their pregnancy. Consider wearing a non-underwire bra to bed. Wearing a plus size bra to bed will supply you breasts with the support they will need during this time.

  • When you are purchasing your bras don't limit yourself to your average white bra. When there are so many colors and styles available in plus size maternity bras.

  • It is important to take note that your bust size will continue to change through out your pregnancy and especially while your nursing. With that in mind it would be wise not to purchase all your bras at one time, but to buy your plus size maternity bras as you need them.  This will ensure the perfect fit always.

Ultimately to have a comfortable fitting plus size bra you need to find the right fit.  How is this done? Well let me tell you how. Circle measuring tape snuggly around your rib cage, right under your breast.  Add five inches to get your band size i.e., 34.  Now run the measuring tape around the fullest part of your breast i.e.,36.  Then, subtract band size from bust size i.e., 36-34=2 cup size is B.

Keep in mind that bra sizes can vary for individual brands so look over each sizing chart.
